New Holland 275 Hayliner Baler Manual
Sorry to hear this fallnhorse. I have no clue for you. I hope someone here will see your post and have an idea for you. It has to be a bummer when there is baling to do and the baler is down. (Well duh- That holds true for any equipment, but I know haying can be very time critical due to weather concerns.) Do you have a good NEW HOLLAND dealer nearby that you can call upon, or do you at least have the operator's manual to the baler, or a trouble shooting chart?
I see that you also have a thread here about a haybine problem and you are getting some responses there, so folks are seeing and reading your messages.just need someone with the proper knowledge about your problem to see your request for help here. Hard to explain but i will try. First flip up front cover behind flywheel look for 2 marks that you put 'bar' in between this positions plunger.

Secong go back by knottters there are 2 sets of 3 dots or look loikke punch marks 1 set on the sprocket driven by big long chain from front and 3 on next peice over belive start of knotters they have to line up usually just move one tooth on chain. Does this make any scence i think i just confused everyone but i tried. Sam Sam, explain it any better and you'd be quoted in the owners manual. It's red so maybe you can help. My baler goes to knot and it breaks the shear pin in the flywheel.

It's telling the saftey mechanicism to shear it. I trip the knotters to feed the twin in to get it strung.
It sheered right then. I put some hay in it and it made two balers and on the third it sheared agian. I got old twin out of the knotters that was caught. But i think it's off time.
Does anyone know how to time a 275 new holland baler? Sam has it pretty good, but here's a little more. After you replace the knotter shearbolt, but before checking the timing, be sure the knotter clutch is reset and pull the needle bail crank arm back towards you as far as you can shoving the knotter clutch pawl firmly against the trip arm stop. This puts the knotter stack in the 'home' position. Adjust the drive chains to the proper tension. Rotate the flywheel in the direction of rotation until the plunger crank arm is about vertical and between the chisel marks on the vertical flange just to the left of the crank arm.
At this point, the pin attaching the feeder forks to the large drive chain should be between the two chisel marks in the feeder housing just behind and below the pin. Also at this point, the two sets of punch or chisel marks on the halves of the knotter clutch should be aligned within 1/4' of each other.
If either the feeder forks or the knotters are out of time, slip the appropriate chain on its sprockets. Time the feeder forks before the timing the knotters. As altering the feeder timing will also alter knotter timing. This info is good for NH balers with the chain driven feeder fork mechanism.
